PageRank is still powerful!

Some time ago I’ve bought link on page with PageRank=6 :). It cost me 160zł (polish zloty) around ~$53. Is this much? I don’t know what stakes are in US or somewhere else, but here in Poland it’s pretty much. Many times, Google tells that PR is not important factor to be well ranked in SERPs. I wanted to test it.

I was supprised at the end of my test.

About my site. It’s connected with royal estate, similar to craiglist. You can put here announcement that you got some flat, room or house for rent. For this time I was concentrating for catalogues and some presell pages. My anhor was “stancje warszawa” (I’ve just changed design!). Before the test my was was around 10 and 14 position.

About PR=6. Link was on that site for ~30 days, only on main page (1 site) with PR=6 – telegazeta.tv.pl. When I started test, on that page was 6 external links (71 all links – 8%). After that, number increased to 13 (16%). The final number of external links was 36 linków (35% of all)! In the meantime page lost PageRank from 6 to 4!

After the 30 days I’ve jumped to the 5th position! Pretty nice result when link was only one page :P

How do I get link from The Register

Before I start there is one thing to talk about. Tips. Everytime when you read “must read” entries (lecture). Here in Poland we have a lot of  laugh everytime when we reads those tips. In every post we can read make orginal content, challenge other blogers, comment everything that you can. Be social. the funniest thing is that, everytime this “amaizing” discover is linked by other as: so cool and valuable. I like those masters of theory. Today will be much different. I will give you case in which I show how did I get link from The Register.

At first you have to know, that I got another blog. About Apple fanboys in which I review some iPhone games and tricks for Mac with some sense of humor. Few days ago, Apple world was amazed by news from Korea where “sales of Max sausages in convenience stores has surged a full 39% over the same period last year”. You know – cold outside, and touch screen does not respond for touch via winter gloves. For me it was so funny news, ideal for blog profile.

If you read other news about that you probably figured out that every news is the same. I wanted describe this funny news in funny way. So the most important was summary. For me it was main factor which decided about to be quoted by The Register.

Conclusions of this story:

• do not copy all the same information that everybody around you are copying,
• write you own (maybe funny) summary.
